What is the Meaning of Success?

Is it persevering with the job at hand to achieve your final outcome?  Is it about commitment or integrity?  Is it about putting your heart and soul into a project?  Then again, is success reliant on who you know to help with reaching your goal? Success means different things to different people, that much I do know.

When you read of successful people one tends to  think they must have had it easy on their way to the top.  You’ll often hear “It’s who they know” or “Luck went their way” but that’s not often the case at all. Sure, some people are born with the silver spoon and get everything handed to them but surprisingly a lot of successful people do not.

Often it’s the people who are not the most educated, the show off, disruptive kid at school or those coming from the wrong side of the tracks that become the most successful. You know, the rags to riches stories, and don’t we just love them.  Possibly because we can relate to their humble beginnings all the while thinking, could that be me and could I do that too?

What then, makes them successful?

What keeps them going when time and time again they see no results, or very little for the effort they are putting in.  When they have exhausted their funds and no doubt some friends along the way…what does keep them going?
I believe they have a Dream. They have the intestinal fortitude to keep that dream alive.  A burning desire to advance to a better position in life.

They always remember why they got started in the first place. Who they are doing this for and what they expect the final outcome to be. How much better off their lives and others will be with their successful outcome.  Following their dreams, keeping that spirit alive is all part of being successful.

Naturally, getting started in the first place is just the beginning.  Making that commitment to keep on keeping on, no matter what circumstances come along.  After all we know that life can throw some spanners in the works, that’s for sure.

Spend plenty of time surrounding yourself with people of the same mindset. Gain knowledge by watching videos, going to conferences, and creating empowering networks.

Never give up or give in. Keep believing and committed to the job in hand and success will happen for you too.

Too Much of a Good Thing Can be Wonderful

Do You Need to Write a Long Sales Letter?

It has been the norm for quite a while to write an 8 page or more sales letter to attract buyers for your product. Is it still necessary to proceed with that idea?

I don’t believe it’s relevant these days and in some instances it’s a complete waste of time. I’ll tell you why I believe this is the case.

Whenever I look into a product and I open the sales page, I immediately go to the bottom of the page to check out the price. If the price is okay I’ll then skim the pages to see whether or not I’m interested in that particular product.

I have NEVER read an 8 page or more sales letter! I don’t see why details of the product cannot be broken down into points and kept to one or two pages. This is what I am thinking of doing with any new products I want to promote. Unfortunately, when I promote other people’s products I cannot change the length of their sales letter. I know that there are people out there who want to find out as much as they can before they buy, but you can read a very long sales letter and still not find the information you need.

A lot of internet marketers are using a video instead of a long letter and that works well too, but some of them drag on and on without getting to the point! What we as buyers want to know as quickly as possible, is what this product can do for us and how easy it is to implement. Simple!

Sounds very simple but in the majority of cases this is not what we get. We get a lot of fluff and screenshots of how much money they’ve made using the same principles, but if you’re like me, all I want to know is am I getting value for my dollar. Let’s face it, there are thousands of great products to choose from and you want to make sure you choose the right one and that it’s going to enhance your business.

If you have a great product to sell, just remember that a lot of your potential customers are time poor and don’t want to spend a lot of time poring over a long document. Make it short and sweet and straight to the point. List the benefits of your product in bullet points. I know that when I read a sales letter I skim the pages but I do read the bullet points. This is where you learn the most about the product.

You can lose potential customers if you re-hash the same information over and over, so consider that before you write your next sales letter. Try a long and short version of your sales letter and work out which one attracted the most interest. You may be surprised at the result!

A MindMap can Bring Clarity to Your Product Development

Whenever you think about developing a new product, the first thing that pops into your mind is, “where do I start?” Getting started is the hard part, so you need a plan of action. This is when a MindMap will become very useful. According to Wikipedia, “a mind map is a diagram used to visually outline information. A mind map is often created around a single word or text, placed in the center, to which associated ideas, words and concepts are added. Major categories radiate from a central node, and lesser categories are sub-branches of larger branches. Categories can represent words, ideas, tasks, or other items related to a central key word or idea”.

A MindMap can be drawn by hand and added to as ideas come up, or there are many software programs you can use to create one online. The one I’ve chosen to use is is FreeMind and it’s a free download. When you go to the website it actually looks like a Wikipedia page, but scroll down to “Download” and download the software.

It’s an easy tool to use and you have the option of choosing different ways to display your MindMap. An example of a MindMap is below.

A MindMap will help you put things into perspective and is a great way to stimulate your mind and come up with ideas. Having a picture in front of you showing what needs to be done to launch a new product, is one of the greatest tools you can use.

Developing a product whether online or offline, is like driving a car without knowing what direction to take. If you don’t know where you’re going how do you know where to begin?

A MindMap will give you the big picture and give you a starting point. You can then branch out into different directions to make your products a resounding success and give you the incentive to add more and more. Don’t just use a MindMap once, but use it every time an idea comes to mind.

Why It’s Great to Have a Business Buddy!

If you work from home like the majority of us, it’s great having someone to talk to sometimes rather than sitting all day in front of a computer on your own. The option is to find someone who has the same mindset as yourself and seeking to achieve everything that life has to offer, providing you take “action”.

It is rare to find a business partner who is selfless. If you are lucky it happens once in a lifetime.
Michael Eisner

My “Business Buddy” and I live an hour apart, and while we chat via Skype or talk on the phone, it isn’t the same as being with each other to discuss things. When you’re on the phone or sending messages to each other, there’s a lot of stuff you invariably forget to mention, so being face-to-face for a few hours is the ideal situation.

Do you know how much you can achieve when you spend a few hours together brainstorming? We got together yesterday because we are developing a product so we spent time working on a MindMap which puts everything you can think of in one place and gives you a picture of what you think should go into the product.

We came up with so many ideas that we would not have come up with individually, and then worked out which tasks we were going to handle separately. There’s nothing better than bouncing ideas off each other and seeing the product taking shape in front of your eyes. It’s exciting!

You may feel that working with someone else will diminish your feeling of accomplishment, but it couldn’t be further from the truth. My “Business Buddy” and I have similar ideas about what we want to do with this product and future ones, and if we don’t always agree with each other’s interpretation, then I am sure we will work together to resolve any issues that may arise.

Our goal is to develop a product that people want and need, and by sharing our ideas together, it makes it so much easier to define what we really want. You know that old saying, “two heads are better than one?”, then that is exactly the way we both feel about our projects.

We have made a commitment to each other to work together and build our business. We want success from our achievements, and even though we both know there’s a lot of work to be done, it makes it so much easier if you can share the load with someone else. Sometimes it’s hard to work alone and not have anyone to share thoughts, ideas and feelings with. This is why we chose a “Business Buddy” so that we can work on the many products we have in mind. Stay tuned!

Does Having the Right Mindset Make You a Better Blogger?

When you first start blogging you would have said “no” to the above question, but over time you will change your mind. Your mindset is one of the most important aspects to have if you want to be as good as you can be as a blogger.

Blogging can be a frustrating thing to do at times. If you want to be a good blogger you have to post regular content on your site, which means that you will have to research your topics before you write. This can take time and take you away from what you really want to do. It’s always so easy to procrastinate and tell yourself that you’ll get to it later! Sound familiar?

If you sit down to write and are not in the mood to write, then get up and do something different to take your mind off it. If you’re telling yourself, “I don’t know what to write about”, then your mind will go blank. It’s often while you’re doing mundane things that the ideas will start to flow.

Read some of the blog topics from your favourite bloggers to gain inspiration for your own topic. You’ll be amazed at how quickly the ideas will start flowing, so write them down while they’re fresh in your mind. You may find that you’ll come up with a few different ideas to focus on later which will be a bonus. You may come across a news item from the day which has piqued your interest, so use those thoughts to write an interesting blog post.

I also find that if I’m completely relaxed I tend to write better and the words just flow onto the page. If you have issues affecting your state of mind you will not be able to write efficiently. Before I sit down to write I make sure that I’m comfortable and have either a cup of tea or coffee in front of me. If the room is too hot or too cold, I also find it hard to concentrate.

Getting your ideas down on paper in a lucid fashion does take a bit of practice, but after a while it becomes very easy to do. Don’t write your blogs in a technical way. If you write in a more conversational way then you have a much better chance of your blog articles being read. The majority of people who read blog posts from others, don’t want to be bogged down with words they can’t pronounce or a subject that is too technical.

To produce a great blog post, think about what you’re writing about and write it down. You can always come back a bit later and change sentences etc., but at least you have it written and it may give you more ideas for much more content. You could also write down bullet points about what you want to discuss and then expand on them. The mind is a wonderful tool so give it some ideas and let it go to work for you. Before you realise it, you will have completed your post!

Tips about Writing an Interesting Newsletter

The majority of Internet Marketers are used to receiving one or many newsletters in their inbox. Sometimes you get so many that it is impossible to read all of them. So how do you sort the wheat from the chaff? Good question isn’t it because sometimes we delete them because we don’t have time to read them all.

The best advice I can give is when you receive a newsletter you’ve subscribed to, read the first issue completely to see whether or not it has information you want or need. If it doesn’t then unsubscribe and go on to the next one. After a while you’ll narrow your choices to one or two which add value.

So what if you are the person writing the newsletter? What will make your newsletter stand out from the rest?

Subject Heading – if you don’t have a dynamic subject heading then your prospective subscriber will delete your newsletter without even opening it. Make it compelling so that they’ll be keen to see what you have to offer.

Layout – make sure that the layout of your newsletter isn’t too “busy”. It’s better to have a clean, uncluttered newsletter which will make for easy reading.

Length – don’t make it too long. Everyone is busy and they will not read more than a page in most cases. If you have a subject matter which requires a lot of detail, then your target audience will know that they have a lot of reading to do and it won’t bother them. On the other hand, if you have a simple subject to write about, don’t go on and on about the same information. They will get bored and stop reading.

Content – must be interesting enough to send them to your website for more information. The content is a great way to highlight a product or service you are offering, so it must be informative as well as enjoyable to read.

An Offer – add a “special offer” to your newsletter subscribers only. You could promote a product or service which can be offered at a reduced price, or you could give it away for “free”. Everyone likes to get something for nothing and as an example you could offer a free ebook or report, a free one month subscription to your membership site etc.

It’s not hard to write a newsletter but unless you take the time to get it right, it could end up in the “deleted” file. Your number one priority is to come up with an interesting and compelling headline and then the rest will follow!

Blogging to Increase Traffic

Your website is up and running and you’ve found your niche, and you need to get traffic to your site, but you’re not sure where to start. You need to increase the content, which means that you’ll have to write articles, but you have no idea what to write about or where to find the information you need.

You have probably heard the term “blogging” or “blog” and the Wikipedia definition is, A blog (a truncation of the expression web log) is a discussion or informational site published on the World Wide Web and consisting of discrete entries (“posts”) typically displayed in reverse chronological order (the most recent post appears first).

In other words, the only way to promote your website or product (or both), is to blog about it on a regular basis. Many experts have recommended at least 4-5 posts a week. Many people think that it is difficult to find enough content to write about, but there are many ways to access the information and here are just a few which will help you write informative and interesting articles.

  • Google Alerts – set up a Google alert for your chosen topic and you will be sent news items on a regular basis. If you have settled on a topic such as weight loss, you could set up alerts for weight loss programs, diet and nutrition, weight loss exercises etc. You will be kept up to date with all the latest developments in these areas, so your articles can be written about current findings.
  • Ezine Articles – search Ezine articles for articles written about your topic. The search will give you a huge number of articles to look through and you can choose something from a number of them to write about, or you may consider re-writing a few of them. Whatever you choose to do you will have plenty of information on hand.
  • Keyword Research – search for the most popular keywords in your niche and then write articles using them prominently in your title as well as the body of the article.
  • Magazines or Newspapers – maybe a publication has a dedicated section in their magazine or newspaper which focuses on your topic. If so you can get plenty of information to either write a new article or re-write one that has already been written.

As you can see you should never run out of ideas for articles. All it takes is a bit of research on your topic and you are on your way.

The goal is to generate traffic and one of the best ways is to write constantly about your product, making sure that the information is what people are searching for.

Time to Make Those Plans

Here we are again at the start of a New Year.

NYE Balloon 2NYE Balloon 2NYE Balloon 2

It’s so easy to just let the days drift on by when you’re working from home.

I was always so much more organised when I was leaving the house each day to work in the city. Slowly I’ve drifted in to a no routine day and it’s not productive at all.  It’s time for a reality check and time to develop a much needed daily routine.

Best to start at the beginning of the day and get the morning headed in the right direction. I have noticed that when I do get moving in the morning it’s amazing how much better I feel throughout the rest of the day. I feel as though I have at least achieved something and that spurs me on to do more. You know how you feel when you finish writing a blog and post it…..it’s that, well, that’s done and dusted for another day or so feeling.

I have been pondering all of this over the Christmas break and have decided to write myself a daily routine, maybe more of a morning routine as mornings seem to set the tone for the rest of the day.

No more switching on the computer first thing and then realising an hour or so later I still haven’t had breakfast. No, things have  to change and change for the better.

Here are a few thoughts I’ve written down.

1. I’m going to make the effort to exercise, gardening or go walking, this will have me wide awake and during this time I can focus on what lies ahead for the day.

2. Listen to my self talk program, it’s just amazing how this impacts on your life. Gets you into the positive, I can do anything state of mind.

3. Showered, dressed and breakfast. Naturally, but I need to do this before I attempt any of my computer work.

4. The never ending housework detail.

5. Ready, Set, Go……full steam ahead for 2014. I can now concentrate without distraction and thinking I have other things to do.

Obviously there is a lot more to add here but you get the idea. The idea is to develop a Routine and stick to it, not always easy but at least I’m going to give it a go.

Read something positive each day, refine my goals, meditate.  Don’t forget to take time out, as they say, to smell the roses. I make time most days to take a walk on the local beach, so refreshing and inspiring. It makes me thankful for all that I have in my life.

I’m thankful that I have found John Thornhills Partnership to Success Training.

Wishing everyone a most Happy New Year and a prosperous one for 2014, may it bring you all that you wish for.

Too Much of a Good Thing Can be Wonderful

Summer Downunder

Photo0121For those of us living in the Southern Hemisphere this is the busy, crazy, hectic time of the year. Schools break up for the seemingly never ending holidays, businesses go into hibernation as Christmas and the New Year are suddenly on the horizon. Then we have the Office parties, Christmas drinkies with friends and not to forget the shopping, whether it be for gifts or the food for the big day. People seem to go into a frenzy that not all tasks will be completed in time so as to have everything in place for the relevant days. Add to that, it’s hot, really hot in some places and that slows the population down to a manana frame of mind in those areas. Inevitably there’s always the last minute rush, what would Christmas be without it. I admit that I love it, and the best of it is the family can get together and celebrate.

Putting all that aside I still have my blogs to write….I have been very remiss lately in keeping up with my schedule, something I have to put at the top of the list. I must admit to getting sidetracked with the Cricket season underway, it’s so exciting this year.

I have decided on my niche market and am busily reading up and learning all that I can about it. It’s a lot to take in within a short period of time but I will get there. I have found so much information via the Partnership to Success webpage, it’s just great. I am finding many other avenues for study so it’s an ongoing job. I now have to make sense of it all and put it into some sort of order.

Thankfully I have help at hand with the Forum and of course other members to call on for advice.

My other really great news is that I have taken on a partner, Susan Denny, so you may well be reading her blogs on this webpage.

We are calling ourselves Bizzee Buddies and as our name suggests we will be for sure.

Too Much of a Good Thing Can be Wonderful

D-Day Approaching!

Getting sidetracked.

The past few weeks I’ve been offline  due to a bout of illness however, I’m now back on board and raring to get on with the programme.

As an aside, last week I did have time to watch the first test of  The Ashes cricket series. Fabulous win to our Aussie team, lets hope they can keep up the momentum for the next game.  Summer in Australia, sun, surf  and sand, what could be better…..I know, our boys beating the English at cricket.   Cricket

Still, it was only the first test and there are four more to come and the English are a great cricketing nation.

Back to the job in hand.

As ‘D Day’ (decision day) approaches it’s getting more and more difficult to make the choice.  What choice is that, you say?

Trying to decide what I will choose for my niche market?  There are so many categories to choose from, the choice is endless.  After reasonable research I have say I’m leaning towards the  list, 101 Niche Ideas, that John has provided.  What a fabulous list John, if I can’t find anything on it that I can use to produce my product then, I give up….lol.  Of course that’s not going to happen because this course is the greatest.  I’m here for the long haul.  Being new to the Internet Marketing world I have to choose a subject that I know that I will enjoy learning about.  Much research to do and there’s a lot of information to grasp.

Other Blogs

Whilst I’ve been out of action, so to speak, I’ve been browsing through a lot of other members blogs and websites they are looking really great.  I’ve stored away in my mind many ideas as to how I would like my blog to evolve.

So, now it’s back to the drawing board and time to get the decision made once and for all.  Exciting times ahead.

Wish me luck that I make the right choice.
